From New England, Bay Ferries operates The CAT ferry from Portland, Maine to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. The CAT is fast, with a crossing time of just 5.5 hours (about half the time it would take to drive from Portland to Yarmouth). From Prince Edward Island, Northumberland Ferries sails across the Northumberland Strait from Wood Islands, PEI to Caribou, Nova Scotia.
From Newfoundland, Marine Atlantic sails from Port-aux-Basques and Argentia to North Sydney, Nova Scotia. Reservations are recommended. Tickets must be picked up one hour before sailing.
